Individual Therapy

I work primarily with young adults (18+ years) and adults of diverse backgrounds, identities, and orientations, looking to step into their full potential or to get 'unstuck' in some way. In individual work, I will work with you one-on-one to provide a safe and compassionate space to begin to make sense of it all.

I offer 60 minute sessions (currently online during the COVID-19 pandemic).

When you engage in psychotherapy, you may wish to address a wide variety of life issues. However some of the more common ones include:

  • anxiety, panic attacks

  • depression, low mood

  • stress, coping skills

  • relationship issues/conflicts, divorce/separation

  • grief/loss, life transitions

  • self esteem, self concept

  • difficult events, traumatic experiences, post traumatic stress

  • domestic abuse, sexual abuse

The Process

Free 15 Minute Consultation: to ensure that individual therapy is right for you, and to find out a bit more about one another, I invite you to schedule a 15 minute phone consultation with me. This is an opportunity for us to briefly discuss your goals for therapy, as well as for you to ask me any questions you may have. If it seems like a good fit, we can book a session together. If the fit is not quite right, I will offer you a list of local referrals.

Beginning Sessions: in the first few sessions, we will focus on getting to know one another, and fostering a sense of safety within the space,  this often involves asking a bit about your past and present life, as well as collaborating on goals and approaches for treatment.

The Work: The length that people engage in therapy varies, and we will decide together on what this may look like for you. Once there is a road map in place for the work, I will guide you through treatment at a pace that feels right for you, and in a manner that honours the uniqueness of your experience. I will check-in with you at each session to ensure that treatment remains focused on our agreed upon goals, as well as what is important and relevant to your life. Once we have met your therapeutic goals, it is common to space sessions out on a more as needed basis, or to schedule check-in sessions every so often.
